The
database development process consists of three stages:
The
Initial Consultation
To meet with the customer and discuss the general business operation,
database needs and provide (if necessary) a brief demonstration.
It enables us to give the customer a brief overview of FileMaker's
capabilities and the equipment needs and let the customer view
our capabilities.
Design
and Analysis
The design stage consists of more in depth meetings where the
initial design and development process is started with all all
the participants - and where we receive input on features, design,
working methodology etc. At this stage we begin to define exactly
what is required both in terms of software, hardware and programming
needs. This is the groundwork stage and just as important as
the programming stage.
The
Programming Stage
The development - at which time the process progresses
from ideas and mockups to the final form. Much interaction between
customers and developers is still required to finalize all aspects
of the solution. Prototype files are provided to the customer
for confirmation as to the look and feel as well as general
operability. Beta testing is undertaken to iron out all the
bugs and the final version is installed.
If
required, legacy data from earlier systems may be input at this
time and on completion of this stage, the database is handed
over to the customer. Training and support are available.
