The Design and Development Process
The Initial Consultation
To meet with the customer and discuss their general business operation, database needs and provide, if required a demonstration of FileMaker Pro's capabilities. This meeting enables us to give the customer an overview of FileMaker's capabilities and equipment needs–and let the customer view our development skills and abilities.
Design and Analysis
The design stage consists of more in depth meetings where the initial design and development process is started with all the participants; we receive input on features, design, working methodology etc. At this stage we begin to define exactly what is required in terms of software, hardware and programming needs. This is the groundwork stage and just as important as the programming stage.
The Programming Stage
The development–when the process progresses from ideas and mockups into a database. Much interaction between customers and developers is still required to finalise all aspects of the solution. Prototype files are provided to the customer for confirmation of the look and feel as well as general operability. Beta testing irons out all the bugs then then final version is installed.
If required, legacy data from earlier systems may be input at this time and on completion of this stage, the database is handed over to the customer. Training and support are also available.
